About

The Progressive Student Alliance (PSA) is RPI’s left-wing, liberal, and progressive political organization. Formerly known as the RPI College Democrats, the PSA does not adhere to a party line or dogma, instead encouraging its members to develop their own opinions and act on them.

The PSA is dedicated to both encouraging participation in politics by people of all views as well as promoting progressive policies on campus, in the local community, and in the world as a whole. In the past year, members of the PSA worked on local campaigns for the city council in Troy, Congressional seats, organized debates with the College Republicans, organized voter registration drives, attended rallies in support of peace and free speech, built and watched over a graffiti wall dedicated to freedom of expression, helped organize a student response when an artist was removed from campus, and much much more.

We also have a column in the Polytechnic once every three weeks where members are able to write about whatever issues interest them.

Members of the PSA range from moderate Democrats and Libertarians to Greens and radical leftists. Members only need to participate in projects that interest them. In addition, anyone is welcome to drop into our meetings and to become actively involved in those projects that appeal to them.
